Release Blitz ***Mrs. February by Karen Cimms***

Title: Mrs. February

Series: The Calendar Girl Duet

Author: Karen Cimms

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Is it possible to find your happily ever after if the past keeps coming back to haunt you?

It took three years, but Rain and Chase finally exchanged vows on a sandy beach as the sun rose over the Atlantic Ocean.

Happiness was theirs. But when jealousy and indiscretion threaten to unravel their tightly knit union, Rain finds herself fighting an elusive adversary -- and loosing.

At first blinded by love, Chase begins to encounter triggers that set him up for a fall. Opening his eyes to the truth is painful, but if he's to survive, it's his only option. Even if it hurts like hell.

Past experiences and present interference have a tendency to distort things, so what we think we see, might not really be true at all.

Sometimes you just need to close your eyes in order to hear what your heart has been telling you all along.

And then let it lead you home.

Mrs. February is the dramatic conclusion to the Calendar Girl Duet.

“Damn, these are good.” Diane snatched another red, white, and blue Jell-O shot off the tray and squeezed it into her mouth. “I could eat these all day.” She looked at the empty plastic cup in her hand. “Or is it drink these all day?”
“Whichever it is, you’ve been doing it. Your tongue is turning black.”
She wiggled her discolored tongue at me. “At least this way, we know where’s it’s been.”
I hip-bumped her and raised the tray over her head as she reached for another. “And that might be my cue to cut you off.”
I backed into the screen door leading into the yard and nudged it open. “Let me pass out at least one tray of these before you gobble them all down.”
Diane and Wally’s annual Fourth of July celebration had attracted just about everyone we knew. Both of their families were there, and Mom and her latest beau. All of the guys from the race team and their families had come, and even some of the regulars from Blondie’s, most of whom I rarely saw anymore, like Fish. I’d known him for years but had only just learned that the reason everyone called him Fish was because he drank like one. I’d always assumed he liked to fish. Go figure. His real name was Howard, which didn’t suit him at all.
No, Fish’s moniker suited him. He couldn’t hold his liquor worth a damn, and he got drunk faster than anyone I’d ever known. Maybe it was because he never stopped drinking.
“Hey, beautiful. When you comin’ back to work?” he asked.
“I do work. I just don’t work at Blondie’s anymore.”
“That’s ’cause yer old man’s a tight-ass.”
I gave him a benevolent smile. “No, it’s because I have a family to take care of, and I don’t need to work two jobs anymore. Be happy for me.”
He snorted. “Sure. Sure. I jes need someone easier on the eyes. Irena scares the shit outta me.”
He reached for a Jell-O shot, knocking over several others in the process. “Wuz ’is?”
“Dessert. It’s Jell-O layers made with vodka.”
He held the plastic cup to his lips and dug around with his tongue.
“Just squeeze the cup and it will slide into your mouth.” I took one and demonstrated. “See?”
“I know something else I’d like to slide into my mouth.”
Fortunately, I was a lot quicker and a lot less drunk. I took a giant step back as Fish stumbled forward. “Unh-uh-uh!” It was like back in the old days when I had to smile and ward him off. “Better not let Chase see you.”
“Fuck ’im.”
“Don’t you go worrying about that now. That’s my job, babe.” On that note, I scampered off to pass out the rest of the goodies on my tray.
I made a beeline across the yard to where my husband sat with Wally and some of the other guys, watching the kids play with sparklers. Chase held out an arm and patted his knee as I approached. I handed him my last Jell-O shot and took a seat. His arm curled around my waist, holding me into place, and he kissed my bare shoulder. Despite the afternoon heat, goose bumps sprang up along my arm.
“You having fun?” I asked.
“I’d be having more fun if you’d stay put.”
I snuggled in. “Me too, but Diane needs a hand. Once I put the berries on my cake, I’m all yours for the rest of the night.”
“You play your cards right, and I may even go home with you.”
He rubbed the scruff along his jaw. “We’ll see. My wife’s pretty jealous.”
“Somehow, that doesn’t surprise me at all.” I planted a kiss on his lips before I rose from his lap. “I’ll be back in a little bit. Twenty minutes, tops.”
“I’m going to hold you to that,” he called after me.

“I don’t want your fucking sweatshirt, man,” Gideon stated, clicking his tongue. “Ain’t your fucking charity case. Go give shit to some other motherfucker if you need to deal with some kinda winner’s guilt or something. I’m not the one.”
“It’s not any kind of guilt,” Eli protested. “I fucked yours up and I’m giving you a new one.”
“Don’t want it,” Gideon replied simply. He began to walk again, visibly irritated when Elijah continued beside him.
“How about breakfast?” Eli asked, holding up the McDonald’s bags in his other hand.
Gideon stopped again and reluctantly held his hand out, appearing taken back when Elijah handed him both bags.
“I didn’t know what you liked, so I got you everything,” Eli said, giving Gideon a small grin as he peeked in the bags.
“Are you serious right now?” Gideon questioned, his nose crinkling as he studied Elijah’s face. “Did you poison this shit or something?”
“It’s a normal question,” Gideon stated, suddenly looking amused by the situation. “If a guy fucked your wife, would you buy him a Ferrari?”
“I don’t have a wife. I’m gay,” Elijah reminded him.
Gideon narrowed his bright blue eyes. “That’s not the point. It’s hypothetical. When people do fucked-up shit to you, do you always bring them fucking breakfast?”
“Mostly I buy them lunch,” Elijah admitted, thinking getting mugged on the South Side wasn’t that different than getting fucked over by half the agents he bought lunch for. He smiled when Gideon coughed out a reluctant laugh.
“I’m not gonna eat all this for breakfast,” Gideon informed him, turning around so he could head back to his house, “but I’ll put it in the fridge and eat it sometime.”
Eli nodded. “Good.”
As they walked in silence back to the Valsecchi house, Elijah reflected on how strange the moment was, but how pleasant at the same time.
“D’you want something? Before I put it away?” Gideon questioned, grabbing a wrapped sandwich out of the bag without giving much of a thought to what it was.
“I’ll eat something,” Elijah decided, reaching his hand into the bag and grasping the first thing he could.
“Hold this,” Gideon said, tossing Eli his sandwich and stomping out his cigarette before disappearing into the house. Once he returned, he took the food back, still regarding Eli suspiciously. “You sure you didn’t do something to this?”
“I’m eating one, too,” Elijah replied, tearing the wrapper and smirking at Gideon, who cautiously did the same.
“I don’t got time to shit my brains out if you laced it with laxatives,” he stated. “Got a game tonight.” He took a tentative bite of the sandwich, watching Eli do the same.

“Mmm, this is damn good,” Elijah remarked, shocked by how delicious the food was.

“You okay over there?” Gideon asked, his mouth full.
“Yeah, it’s just…wow. It’s better than I remember.
“Were you on Mars for a while?” Gideon snarked, grinning when Elijah laughed.
“I don’t eat it a lot,” Elijah replied, talking another big bite. “Shit. So good.”

“Yeah, well…” Gideon cleared his throat as they approached the corner, “enjoy jizzing over your fucking McGriddle, man, but I don’t need you to walk me to school.”
Eli nodded his understanding and offered the sweatshirt one last time. “You sure you don’t want it?”
“Positive,” Gideon scoffed, giving him a dirty look.

Elijah shrugged and started to walk back toward the L.
“Thanks,” Gideon called out, but before Eli could turn and respond, the guy was gone.

The night I met Greer Palmer was no coincidence.
The plan was perfect.
Everything was in place. All I had to do was get her attention and the rest would take its course.
What I didn’t plan was my reaction the first time she spoke.
“Are you okay?”
Three little words…
That’s all it took for her to steal my breath and shatter every thing I’d expected.
She was supposed to be a spoiled socialite, a pampered princess, an elite heiress— anything other than the striking beauty that blew my misconceptions to pieces.
One kiss and I became obsessed.
One night and I became addicted.
One month and she became my world.
Suddenly, my plan wasn’t so perfect.
To her, I am sunset kisses, whispers of seduction, and promises of forever.
It’s all a lie…
I’m Lawson Hall.
My name and reputation speaks for itself as one of the most successful architects in the industry. Conceited, arrogant, egotistical, ruthless— I’ve earned it all.
In reality, I’ve bided my time, done my job, and waited my turn.
Now is my chance.
Greer thinks we met by accident, but she’s wrong.
Once the lies are exposed, will the truth be enough?
“Don’t.” I pull her closer, brushing my lips against hers. “You want to know something, ask.”
She nods and resumes scraping lightly on my cheeks.
“Here’s another tidbit of information. I’m in no rush to introduce you to my brother. He’s a lady’s man, and he’ll have no problem trying to snatch you from right under my nose. I’m not an idiot and know a good thing when I find it.”
She giggles, the sound breaking any tension from earlier.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“I’m smart.”
“If you had a rough day, we don’t have to go out.”
“I’m tempted to keep you here like this, especially looking like you do. But I thought you wanted to meet your friends for drinks.”
“What’s wrong with the way I look?”
I make a point to sweep my eyes slowly over her face, neck, shoulders, and chest, stopping when I hit her low-cut neckline. “Your tits are about to burst out of your top.”
“They are not!” She swats me playfully.
I cock an eyebrow at her. “Pretty sure every man that sees you tonight is going to think the same thing. Do me a favor and don’t make any sudden movements.”
“Now, you’re being silly. This top doesn’t show that much cleavage.”
To make a point, I lean in and skim my lips along the edge on the fabric, stopping at the lowest point and darting my tongue out to touch her skin. She inhales sharply.
“Now, do you see my point?"
Ahren spent her formative years living in an active volcano. There her family made collectible lava art. She studied rock collecting at the Sorbonne in France. There she met the love of her life-her pet pig Sybil. She returned to the states and started writing. She is happily married to a guy who used to live under a bridge and she met while pole-dancing.
Now, meet the real me. I grew up in the south and consider myself a true “Southerner”. Most of the special locations mentioned in my books are reflections of my favorite places. Living on the Florida coast, my family spends a lot time at the beach, which is where I usually can be found with a book in my hand.
